文藝春秋は
100周年を
迎えました。
“I am tired of being asked to say things.
I want to say what I think,
without hesitation to readers and editors,
with a free mind.”
These are the words written by founder Kikuchi Kan when Bungeishunju was launched.
The first issue, with contributions from his friends Akutagawa Ryunosuke and Kawabata Yasunari, sold out in just three days, with 3,000 copies in print.
This is where Bungeishunju’s history began.
100 years have passed since then. Bungeishunju still does not have a written company mission or creed.
In print, digital, literature, journalism.
The spirit of Kikuchi Kan is passed down in all of them.
